If you are living with chronic pain, chronic illness, persistent physical symptoms, anxiety, depression, or the effects of injury, you may feel frustrated, discouraged, or unsure how to move forward. Symptoms can begin to affect your confidence, relationships, activities, and overall quality of life.
I have been a licensed psychotherapist for more than 25 years and have a particular interest in chronic pain, psychophysiologic disorders, chronic illness, and adjustment to illness and injury. My work in this area is also informed by my own recovery from chronic back pain and a head injury, which deepened my understanding of how persistent symptoms and physical limitations can affect emotional well-being and everyday life.
I use cognitive-behavioral and mind-body approaches to help clients better understand the connection between stress, emotions, the nervous system, and physical symptoms. I also view the body as a valuable source of information that can help us recognize emotions that have been suppressed, avoided, or difficult to access. Together, we work to reduce fear and avoidance, challenge unhelpful beliefs, increase emotional awareness, and help you return to meaningful activities with greater confidence.
Symptoms I commonly help with:
