I am Sebastián Cillo, a licensed Kinesiologist and Physiatrist, graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 2001.

I have 25 years of clinical experience specializing in reversing chronic pain and stress-related symptoms. Every day, I provide personalized care to patients of all ages who are seeking a root-cause solution to persistent pain and other psychophysiological conditions such as gastrointestinal disorders, migraines, and medically unexplained symptoms. Today, I practice at RecoverPain.

My personal healing journey began with chronic neck pain — diagnosed as two disc protrusions in my cervical spine — that persisted for more than 15 years despite trying every available mechanical treatment. The pain became a constant source of suffering and frustration that spread into many areas of my life, driving me to search desperately across alternative medicine, various forms of psychotherapy, and countless unsuccessful treatments. In 2004, I discovered the work of Dr. John Sarno, and for the first time found an exact description of what I was experiencing — I began to see real changes in my symptoms. From there, I started to redefine my pain and its source, and became convinced of the mind-body concept Dr. Sarno described as TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome).

Since 2008, I have taught Dr. Sarno's TMS concept in academic settings. I lectured on the mind-body connection and Dr. Sarno's approach for more than six years at Universidad Maimónides, through a new course created for that purpose. That same year, the University of Buenos Aires officially recognized an extracurricular course, "New Paradigms in Health," which I taught alongside other health professionals aligned with what was then an emerging mind-body medicine movement.

From there, my search kept expanding. I discovered the books and seminars of Dr. Howard Schubiner, who became a particular source of inspiration, as well as the contributions of Dr. David Schecter, Dr. Scott Brady, and other well-known voices in the field such as Alan Gordon, Georgie Oldfield and Steve Ozanich.

I also lead theoretical and practical group seminars for patients with chronic pain and psychophysiological disorders alongside Dr. Lorena Frasier (a physician trained in the psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology of stress), both in person in Buenos Aires and remotely.

Despite limited acceptance within Argentina's academic circles, I continue to tirelessly study and apply Dr. Sarno's concepts alongside other tools such as Mindfulness, EFT, and Focusing. My treatment programs focus on neuroeducation, journaling, and stress-regulation and mind-body connection techniques, delivered both in person and via telemedicine.
