I am a Registered Social Worker who primarily works with clients who have chronic pain. I am trained and experienced in assessing and treating chronic pain and mindbody symptoms that have no structural cause, often referred to as Neuroplastic Pain, Centralized Pain, a Psychophysiologic Disorder, or Tension Myoneural Syndrome. I specifically utilize Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Emotional Awareness & Expression Therapy to support my clients in reducing and/or eliminating their pain. My therapeutic approach involves helping clients to understand how our bodies can develop chronic pain (and other mindbody symptoms), and what can be done to help break the cycle of these chronic symptoms.
Throughout my life I had always battled headaches, but in my mid-20s the headaches became so severe that I had to stop all physical activity and took a leave from work; I simply couldn’t make it through the day without being bedridden by pain. It was pain that wasn’t responding to any type of treatment or medication, so I felt lost and hopeless. While I was only able to find some therapies that helped manage the symptoms, it was only enough to get me back to work but not enough for me to be able to actually enjoy my life. I came across some chronic pain books that introduced me to the idea of neuroplastic pain, and through learning and training in these modalities I was able to recover from my chronic pain entirely. It has now become my passion to help others through the pain reprocessing and emotional work so that they can also get back to living their lives, without the burden of chronic pain or chronic mindbody symptoms.
Symptoms I commonly help with:
- Chronic or persistent pain, including back, neck, hip, and pelvic pain
- Nerve-related pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Fibromyalgia and CRPS
- Chronic fatigue
- Anxiety-related physical symptoms
- Symptoms without a clear structural cause
