If you’ve been living with chronic pain or other persistent physical symptoms, you may have spent a long time searching for an explanation—and an even longer time trying to get better. You may have been told that nothing is medically wrong, while knowing very clearly that the symptoms are real. Or you may have a diagnosis that explains part of what is happening, but not why your symptoms persist, fluctuate, or seem so difficult to change.

I understand this territory both professionally and personally. I’m a clinical psychologist located in Longmont, CO who specializes in mind-body approaches to chronic pain and persistent symptoms, and I came to this work through my own experience with chronic migraine. Learning to understand my symptoms through the lens of neuroscience, emotion, and the brain’s capacity for change played an important role in my own recovery and transformed the direction of my clinical work.

Today, I help people understand how the brain and nervous system can learn and perpetuate very real physical symptoms—and, importantly, how those patterns can change. My work draws particularly from Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), contemporary neuroscience and predictive-processing models, as well as more than two decades of experience in psychotherapy.

I also work with couples in PACT style couple therapy, see people for longer courses of psychodynamic and contemplative psychotherapy, and also work as an ADHD and substance use evaluator for various contexts.

I also am passionate about training other clinicians in these approaches and run a number of consultation groups, as well as am involved with ongoing trainings
