About Matthew
Center for Insight Medicine · Chattanooga
Dr. Matt McClanahan is an osteopathic physician dual-boarded in Family Medicine and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, and holds a masters in Exercise Physiology. His diverse experience spans primary care, osteopathic manual treatment, integrative medicine, opioid addiction treatment, ISTDP, psychedelic-assited therapy, and hospice/end-of-life support. He holds both basic and mastery certifications in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and has completed the Apprentice level certification in Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP).
His passion for treating chronic pain and mind-body syndromes was sparked in 2012 through work with Dr. Howard Schubiner during his residency. In 2018, "Dr. Matt" left a primary care practice, due to the time constraints imposed by working for the "traditional" medical machine, and founded the Center for Insight Medicine, a consultative practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of neuroplastic symptoms. He is also senior faculty with the Freedom From Chronic Pain training group and from 2023-2025 served as the physician lead for the PRT arm of the PUPPY Trial – the follow-up trial to the original PRT ("Boulder Back Pain") research study.
He lives and practices in Chattanooga, TN.
