About Lauren
Firefly Counseling and Wellness · Sandy Hook
I specialize in helping children, teens, and adults recover from neuroplastic symptoms, including chronic pain and other persistent physical symptoms. I know how disruptive and discouraging these symptoms can be, especially when they begin to interfere with school, work, relationships, or simply enjoying everyday life. I love helping people understand their symptoms in a new way and find hope that recovery is possible.
I have been a therapist for more than twenty years, with much of my career focused on helping individuals heal from anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. There is a great deal of overlap between this work and the treatment of neuroplastic symptoms, particularly when it comes to fear, avoidance, emotions, and the nervous system. I help clients become less fearful of their symptoms, build trust in their bodies again, and gradually return to the activities and experiences that matter to them.
My practice has a strong focus on children, teens, and families, and I particularly enjoy supporting parents as they help a child or teen recover. I also work with adults experiencing neuroplastic symptoms.
My advanced clinical training includes Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have also facilitated chronic pain recovery groups through The Pain Psychology Center.
