I use evidence-based treatment approaches for adults struggling with chronic pain, medically unexplained symptoms, and related issues, with a particular focus on women’s pelvic and gynecologic pain. My practice focuses on using cutting edge therapeutic approaches that provide demonstrable results in a relatively short time frame. My approach fosters a collaborative therapeutic relationship, where we work together to reduce fear of pain and physical sensations, increase physical functioning, engage in emotional processing, and modify behaviors to achieve your specified treatment goals.
I have advanced certification in Pain Reprocessing Therapy and have extensive experience using Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy for chronic pain. I also am also extensively trained in cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Following your initial assessment and review of treatment goals, we will determine the treatment approach that will most effectively address your concerns. Although the most intensive course of treatment is short-term, I often work with clients on maintenance of gains or additional issues after the initial treatment is complete.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts and California. In addition to providing clinical care, I am also Associate Professor of Psychology at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where my lab conducts research to better understand pain in girls and women.
