About Chad
Bristol Physical Therapy (Body And Mind Physical Therapy) · Bristol
My name is Chad Volk and I am a psychologically informed physical therapist with a passion for helping people overcome pain and dysfunction. I earned my undergraduate Mathematics degree and doctorate of physical therapy (DPT) degree from the University of Vermont in 2011. I also earned my orthopedic specialist certification (OCS) in 2019.
I have been practicing outpatient physical therapy full time since 2011. The chief complaint I treat in the clinic is pain and it has become chronic (>3 months) for most of my patients. Awareness of the mind-body connection led me to Psychologically Informed Physical Therapy (PIPT) and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. Physical Therapy practice allows me to be effective and efficient in ruling in or out structural vs. neuroplastic pain disorders.
It is always my focus to help patients manage pain, maximize function, and reach each individual goal while empowering them with the tools to self-manage their condition and prevent future recurrence. As a clinician I practice extensively in orthopedics, sports medicine, balance and functional retraining, vestibular rehab, persistent pain, and concussion rehab.
By appreciating the power and importance of evidence-based medicine and active listening, I strive to consistently provide compassionate and comprehensive care to each and every patient. My goal is to build long-term, lasting relationships with my patients, and to treat every patient as if they are part of my family.
